AVBS Hosts Women’s Intro to MTB Day

Since I qualified as a British Cycling guide earlier this year, I’ve been keen to put my new skills to work, and living in the thick of the Afan Valley, there’s no better place for me to do that. So with the help of the Afan Valley Bike Shed (my local), and fellow qualified guide, Emma, we’re putting on an awesome fun-packed day aimed at introducing mountain biking to more women.

Emma and I will aim to provide you with the skills, knowledge and support to get you off to a flying start in mountain biking. We’ve worked hard to tailor a programme that’s both fun and comprehensive so you get a lot more than just a bike ride. With games, workshops, guest speakers and, of course, free tea, coffee and cake, this is the perfect opportunity to get your friend, partner, daughter or sister into this amazing sport.

Jessica (me) and Emma

With our private, cosy room for the day, a tailored programme will include:

  • Bike set-up and safety
  • Core bike skills
  • A chilled social ride around Afan’s scenic family trail
  • Basic maintenance
  • Kit and Carry session
  • Guest Speakers
  • Photos from the day
  • Goodies to take home
  • Post-course guides
  • Free tea and coffee throughout the day, with added cake at lunchtime!

Is this day for you?

If you’re relatively new to mountain biking, want to build confidence on the bike and meet with like-minded women, then this day is for you.

You don’t have to be fit, and you don’t have to be skilled or have fancy kit, you don’t even need a bike (you can rent one from the shop) – you just need to be able to ride one!

* Minimum age 16yrs

Ticket Options

  • Standard ticket £79
